Week 10 will be underway this week as the NFL is beginning to shape up for an interesting finish. There are still two undefeated teams remaining, the Carolina Panthers and defending champion New England Patriots. There is no Super Bowl hangover for the Patriots as they are the first team overcome it since the 2004 Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. Crazy, right?
My record last week was (9-4) and my overall record is now (82-50). Here are my NFL and DFS picks for week 10.
Buffalo Bills 30, New York Jets 24
The Bills bounced back exceptionally well last week with the return of quarterback Tyrod Taylor, wide receiver Sammy Watkins and running back LeSean McCoy. Yes, the Bills have some star power; their record does not tell the true story. Unfortunately, McCoy is now questionable with an injury this week, but rookie Karlos Williams can shoulder the load if needed. McCoy’s absence will not decide the outcome of this game. I guarantee that Bills head Coach Rex Ryan is preparing his team as best as possible to steal a win away from his former team, but the Jets are too good on defense to be pushed around. They have the second best run defense and opposing teams are hesitant to run on them. The Bills will look to begin a hot streak here, and have the best possible opportunity by upsetting Ryan’s old team.
St. Louis Rams 27, Chicago Bears 10
The Rams should have a field day in this matchup, particularly running back Todd Gurley. The Bears are awful defending the run as they are ranked in the bottom five by Odds Shark. The Bears also face a stout Rams defense without their feature back Matt Forte. This spells utter disaster and another loss for Chicago.
Pittsburgh Steelers 20, Cleveland Browns 17
I know the Steelers are facing Johnny Manziel, but somehow the Browns are going to find a way to make things interesting this coming Sunday. With Big Ben making his way back to the bench with a foot sprain, backup Landry Jones will be commanding the offense for the third time this season, the second time starting. Jones has improved, but he still does not provide the spark that Roethlisberger does. Williams has filled in excellently for injured running back Le’Veon Bell, and I expect him to be the focal point of the game against the Browns’ incumbent rush defense. Look for the Steelers to contain the Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson Jr. The test for the Pittsburgh D will come from containing the elusive Manziel and rising star tight end Gary Barnidge.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19, Dallas Cowboys 17
The Buccaneers and Cowboys are both due for a win, but only the Bucs will accomplish said goal. The Buccaneers are playing solid defense and have been able to produce points on offense behind rookie quarterback Jameis Winston. The Cowboys miss Tony Romo BADLY, but Matt Cassel has shown improvement leading the ‘Boys to 27 points against a Philadelphia Eagles defense. Expect Doug Martin and Darren McFadden to compete to see who can outrush the other as both defenses rank around the league average defending the run.
Green Bay Packers 42, Detroit Lions 21
Maybe I’m being too generous of how many points the Lions will score against the Packers. Aside from that, the Packers are going to put up points. They are mad after dropping two straight for the first time since 2011. Look for Aaron Rodgers to kick the lions while they are down and light up the scoreboard in a much-needed bounce back game.
Carolina Panthers 31, Tennessee Titans 13
Marcus Mariota and the Titans stole a nice win in New Orleans against the Saints in overtime. Granted, the Saints defense is horrible, but it was a nice win for them after Ken Whisenhunt was fired a week ago. Tough luck for the Titans facing the Panthers defense that sports Josh Norman, Luke Keuchly, Thomas Davis and Kawaan Short. Cam Newton will run and pass over the Titans defense that lacks an identity.
Philadelphia Eagles 28, Miami Dolphins 24
